This month we sat down with expert massage therapist, MollieShea Stephens, owner of Clover Therapeutic Massage in the Centerco Office Suites business community. Meet MollieShea!
Full body and site specific Swedish relaxation, Deep Tissue, Geriatric, Prenatal, Myofascial Release as well as pre and post event massage therapy. Therapeutic Massage means the intention or goal is to make changes, facilitate healing and really help the person feel better, not just relaxed.
How long has Clover been in business?
6 months! I started the business in January 2016 and opened the doors on February 1st this year.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
Since 2006 I worked in a Chiropractors office at Olive and Tempo in Creve Coeur. I was the Chiropractic assistant and had my own massage clients as well. The doctor closed her practice so I had to make a choice; work for someone else or start my own Massage Therapy company. I knew I had the support of my clientele, family and friends to take the chance at owning my own business.
What advice would you offer others contemplating starting a small business?
Use the network you have; friends, family, neighbors and customers will all offer unsolicited advice but talk to the people you know who own their own small business. Use the resources around you to find quality administrative assistant and accounting help.
What is the most difficult part of owning your own business?
The fact that there are only 24 hours in a day. But seriously budgeting time for all aspects of the job is a challenge.
Why did you choose Centerco for Clover Therapeutic Massage?
I was so fortunate to find Centerco Office Suites. The building is clean, modern and a major upgrade from my former work space. Tricia, the office manager, is super nice and helpful. Its quiet, the location is perfect for my clients and all the added benefits of being part of the entrepreneurial community.
